Afternoon School Closures
23.06.26
Dear Parents and Carers,
Due to the red weather warning and the current extreme temperatures, we have taken the
decision to close the school early on Wednesday 23rd June and Thursday 24th June to
ensure the safety and wellbeing of all pupils and staff.
I would like to take this opportunity to say how incredibly well the children have managed
today. Despite the heat and the necessary adjustments to some of our usual routines, they
have shown great resilience, maturity and positivity. We are very proud of how they have
adapted and supported one another throughout the day.
On both days, the school day will end as follows:
• Years 5 and 6: 1.00pm
Parents and carers should make their way to the main slope gate, before walking
down onto the playground to collect their child from the class teacher. No child
will be allowed to walk home alone.
• Years 3 and 4: 1.15pm
Parents and carers should make their way to the main slope gate, before walking
down onto the playground to collect their child from the class teacher. No child
will be allowed to walk home alone.
Children will have lunch as normal before leaving school, this includes hot dinners. If your
child is having a packed lunch, please send this in with your child.
We appreciate that this change may present challenges for some families. To support those
who may be unable to collect their children at these earlier times, we will be offering
supervised childcare during the afternoon.
If you would like your child to attend the childcare provision, you must complete the form
by 9am on Wednesday 24th June, using the link below so that we can plan staffing and
ensure appropriate arrangements are in place:
Childcare for 24th and 24th June – 1pm – 3.15pm / 3.30pm – Fill out form
Please note that our afterschool club will continue to run as normal until 6.00pm for those
who require it. Bookings should be made via our usual procedures.
We thank you for your understanding and continued support as we respond to these
exceptional weather conditions.
Yours sincerely,
Lucy Eldridge
Head Teacher
